Jamaica Triathlon Association (JTA) was established in 1997 as the local governing body and authority representing for the sport of Triathlon in Jamaica.  JTA is a non-profit-making organization with the mission to promote and bring greater awareness to the sport of Triathlon throughout Jamaica.  The secretariat for the Association is based at the University of Technology, Jamaica.

JTA is governed internationally by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) and is affiliated to the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA).  As a recognized body of JOA, JTA is responsible for selecting triathletes for the Olympic Games and other international competitions and accept and declare records for Triathlon events held in Jamaica or for Triathlon performances achieved by Jamaican citizens or triathletes eligible to represent Jamaica in international competition.  The Association’s National Championship is held annually in December
